At PBA, our mission is to prepare students for lifelong learning and leadership. We want our students to be servant leaders in their communities, the nation, and the world. Mission trips play an essential part of one’s growth and development in their relationship with God. They get to learn and develop skills and lessons that will be used all throughout their life. That’s why, here at PBA, we offer students a variety of ministry opportunities that help spread the Word of God, while also growing their own faith. Here are 3 real-life lessons that you can learn from going on mission trips that will carry for years to come:
- Recognize Your God-given talents
You might be surprised by the hidden talents you may have when you’re on a missions trip! In Romans 12:1-8, we, as believers are reminded that we all have different God-given abilities, even while we are part of one body. Going on mission trips can help you recognize your gift whether it be serving, counseling, leading, etc. These gifts will help you find purposeful work in your life, while living out the Gospel.
- Expand Your Perspective
Mission trips give us the opportunity to explore new places, meet new people, and discover different cultures. Stepping out of your comfort zone to learn a new language and be in a place where you are the minority, you will learn a great lesson in humility and gain a whole new perspective of the world. Despite the cultural differences and the language barriers, we get to learn that we all share a common goal and that is to know that our life has a meaning and a purpose. By broadening your perspective, you’ll view the world differently and will lengthen the opportunities that come your way.
- Your faith will grow
Although mission trips can be rewarding, it can also be challenging. You might come into a situation where you don’t have enough funds to go on the trip. In this situation, you learn to trust in the Lord. Remembering that God will always provide, we deepen our understanding during trial times in our lives. You begin to mature in your faith and your relationship with Him.
Furthermore, mission trips produce crucial skills and lessons that you can utilize during your lifetime. You get to experience your God-given talents, broaden your perspective in life, serve in humility, and learn to trust when things don’t go your way. These real-life lessons can help build your character, strengthen your faith, and make a long-term impact in your life.
